Z is for Zero - Pagan Blog Project

Here we are.
It's the end of 2014.
In just a few days we start over - another year.

1-1-15

It's the reset button - a clean slate.

We start at zero.

We start the year with an empty calendar.

It's a fresh start as we begin a new year with
new hopes, new dreams, and new wishes.

What will you manifest this year?

"What will you manifest in 2015?"

Y is for Yemaya - Pagan Blog Project

Yemaya ~ Surrender
Illustrated by Hrana Janto
From the Goddess Oracle by Amy Sophia Marashinksy

Come with your cares
come with your woes
come when life is joyful
come when life weighs you down
come when you take on too much
come when you are spread too thin
come when you are danced out
come when you seek renewal
all I ask when you come
is that you surrender to me
mother ocean
my watery womb waits to hold you
nurture you
birth you anew
when you let go and give over all to me

Yemaya swims into your life with the message of surrender.

Are you carrying more than you can handle comfortably?

Do you think you must do it all by yourself?

Surrender doesn't mean giving up, rather you are giving over,
asking for assistance so you can do what you want to do.

Wholeness is nurtured when you realize the only way
through some situations is to surrender
and open to something greater.

The act of surrendering is one of opening and trust.
*************
Wow. Thank you Yemaya.
This has been my biggest lesson lately.
The act of surrender.
Not giving up, but giving in.
Trusting in Divine Power.
Letting go.
Surrendering.

I let go. I trust. I surrender.

V is for Voodoo - Pagan Blog Project

I remember the first time I was introduced to voodoo.

My dad always had a ton of books around and one of them was about folklore.

In this book I found a section on hoodoo, or voodoo.

I was completely fascinated.

Growing up in the bible belt, it wasn't easy to find out what the rest of the world was learning/practicing/doing.

This was way before internet, way before I knew about other religions and spiritual natures.

This book even had spells! I had to try it out.

All I remember is - it involved an onion and breaking up a couple.

Which now I think back - isn't very nice!

I was in high school and ready to experiment.
Totally NOT thinking about "do no harm" rules and all that.

I did the spell over the weekend. On Monday, the couple broke up. Coincidence? I don't know.
Couples are always breaking up in high school.

I tried out a couple more spells in the book -
they both came to fruition.

Pretty amazing!

By Louis Martinie and Sallie Ann Glassman
Life happened, I stopped dabbling, and didn't think about voodoo until I was in New Orleans in 2000. Again, I was completely fascinated. I love the story of Marie Laveau. I love the candles, the charms, the love for ancestors, and the mystery.

I was gifted
The New Orleans
Voodoo Tarot cards.
I still get them out from time to time.

I still love voodoo lore and magic.

Let's get out the cards and see what they have to tell us today.

La Sirene ~ Congo ~Water
La Sirene is the mermaid.

She is the great bridge between the
depths of the seas and the dry land.
She is a loa responsible for the sacred songs
of the Voodoo ceremony.
These songs combine spoken word and music bringing fascination and strong focus.

Blue is her color.

Her power is empathy.

She is all about the emotional connection.

Beautiful card. I love her.
Do you consider yourself empathic?
I know I'm an empath.
It isn't always easy, but there is something special
when you connect with others on a deep emotional level.
Your heart expands and
it's a beautiful thing.

U is for Uzume - Pagan Blog Project

Uzume
From The Goddess Oracle by Amy Sophia Marashinsky
Illustrated by Hrana Janto

~Laughter~

Before the Rock Cave of Heaven
where Amaterasu Omi Kami, the Sun Goddess
had hidden her radiant face
where all the assembled Gods and Goddesses had tried
and failed
to lure her out
I stepped up to the Cave
with utmost seriousness
with grave determination
with proper decorum and a lofty mien
and with a bump and a bump and a bump bump bump bump
lifted my kimono and revealed myself in ways
that caused the mouths of the exalted ones
to water and fall open
Then I played puppet with my labia
and paid myself a little lip service
I heaved my breast over one shoulder
then the other over the other
and landed on my ass
with a bump and a bump and a bump bump bump bump
amidst the explosions of laughter and merriment
of the esteemed crowd
With breasts tied in a knot
my legs spread like a welcome mat
I called in the Spirits
and offered them my body...
but they refused to take it
The crowd howled and laughed as I continued my dance
till Amaterasu Omi Kami couldn't stand it any longer
and rushed out to see what was what
And thus did laughter
win the Sun Goddess from her dark cave
and bring light and warmth back into the world

Uzume is my kind of woman!
Bawdy dancing and letting it all hang out.

YES!

Uzume dances her free and fun self into our lives
reminding us to
LAUGH.

Yes, laugh.
Laughter really is the best medicine.

Laughter helps us through difficult times.
It relaxes us. It makes us smile.
It increases our endorphins.
We feel better when we laugh.

No matter what you are going through, find the humor in it.
Laugh and see the humor in all of life's challenges.

T is for Turquoise - Pagan Blog Project

I absolutely love turquoise.

The color resonates with my soul.
My craft room/office has turquoise walls.
It's the color that makes me the happiest.

And the stone itself -
leaves me in awe.

The above piece is my favorite necklace.
My grandma brought back the pendant from Guatemala years ago when she was on a mission trip.

When I wear it, I feel centered and whole.
I feel authentic.

Turquoise strengthens and aligns all of our chakras.
It is a wonderful stone for spiritual attunement.

Tranquil and protective, turquoise brings together the blue of Father Sky and the green of Mother Earth,
melding these energies together.

Turquoise is a healer of the spirit.
It brings peace of mind and provides a deep soothing energy.

Turquoise can help develop ones natural powers,
providing an increase in ones psychic powers.

Inducing wisdom and understanding, turquoise enhances kindness, trust, and the recognition of beauty.

No wonder I am so attracted to this stone!

When I wear turquoise, I feel balanced and powerful.

What is your experience with turquoise?

S is for Sheila Na Gig - Pagan Blog Project

Sheila Na Gig

I flash my vulva for all to see
I stretch it wide
the gateway that all comes through
the passageway to life
I say come through my doorway
open yourself to what is
if you have something important
show it
so everyone can see
I am the opening to this world
the scared and the silly
the wild and the wooly
the bold and the brazen
I am the Hag
opened by so many turnings
broken down
broken in
broken through
I am the portal to Life
and I say
Open Up!

*************
Sheila Na Gig is the ancient Irish Goddess of birth and death.
Honoring the sacred power of women's genitalia, they used sculptures for protection.
Would you believe that her image adorned church doorways?
Yup.
Sheila Na Gig holding open her yoni for the world to see.
That is until she was smashed or torn down by the offended.
Sigh. It's always the offended that ruins a good time.

*************
"Sheila Na Gig grins at you provocatively and invites you to join her in opening. Now is the time to open to new experiences, people, places, and things.

Now is the time to begin new projects, forge new directions, venture out boldly.
The Universe invites you to come out and play.
Perhaps you've had to contract your energy to deal with a wounding, a grieving, an ending.
Or you haven't felt it was safe to open up.
You may have needed a time of seclusion, sorting out, and focusing inward.
Sheila Na Gig is here to remind you that a period of contraction is followed by expansion and opening.
It is time to nurture wholeness by integrating what the stretching, expanding, and opening will bring."

I love to read.

I love being transported to other lands, other worlds.
I love being inspired and transformed by the words on the page.

Here are my personal top 5 inspiring books -

The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield
I love this book. It's all about being open and noticing the signs from the Universe. One situation leads you to the next, to the next, to the next. You just have to be open.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
Back in 2002, I was working on my heart chakra.
It felt like it was in a million scattered sad pieces.
I ventured out to a heart chakra class and
I was the only student!
Talk about needing some healing!
The teacher suggested Louise Hay's book to me
and I've become a huge fan of hers ever since.

The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
I was in an online book club for The Artist's Way last year.
I am convinced that Julia Cameron is a genius.
She introduced me to morning pages which have become one of my very favorite forms of healing.

Choose Yourself by James Altucher
This man's writing inspires me while making me
think and laugh.
He is utterly brilliant!
Read this book. You'll quit your annoying job.

The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence
by Jessica Ortner
Truly life changing. Jessica's book has helped me learn my rebellious eating triggers and let them go.
This book is all about body confidence and
shining your true light.

P is for Pure Potential - Pagan Blog Project

It's true.

The following excerpt is from an article by

The first spiritual law of success is the Law of Pure Potentiality. This law is based on the fact that we are, in our essential state, pure consciousness. Pure consciousness is pure potentiality; it is the field of all possibilities and infinite creativity. Pure consciousness is our spiritual essence. Being infinite and unbounded, it is also pure joy. Other attributes of consciousness are pure knowledge, infinite silence, perfect balance, invincibility, simplicity, and bliss. This is our essential nature. Our essential nature is one of pure potentiality.

When you discover your essential nature and know who you really are, in that knowing itself is the ability to fulfill any dream you have, because you are the eternal possibility, the immeasurable potential of all that was, is, and will be. The Law of Pure Potentiality could also be called the Law of Unity, because underlying the infinite diversity of life is the unity of one all-pervasive spirit. There is no separation between you and this field of energy. The field of pure potentiality is your own Self. And the more you experience your true nature, the closer you are to the field of pure potentiality.

As I read this, I feel it.

I am a field of possibilities.

I am powerful.

I am pure potential!

P is for Phoenix - Pagan Blog Project

This year I've really been feeling phoenix energy.

January started off with grief.
My dad died and it's still rather difficult to
wrap my head around.

Working through my grief
at some point I started to feel alive again.

I started to rise up out of my own ashes and
grow into a fiery soul with giant red wings.

I started to feel my power again.

I'm filled with life.

I'm filled with the desire to help others.

I'm alive.

I'm on fire.

I am reborn with a purpose.

O is for Ortners - Pagan Blog Project

I've been talking about tapping a lot lately.

I've been practicing it on a regular basis
for a couple of months.
Tap Tap Tap
I had heard of it before, but didn't really look into it.

A few months ago I came across a tapping video
with Nick Ortner.

At the time I had hurt my side pretty bad.

I thought "What have I got to lose?"

So sitting in the privacy of my own room,
I followed his video, tapping on the pain in my side.

Afterwards, I felt better.

How could that be?

I rewatched the video, writing down word for word
his tapping script.

I did the tapping a few more times, followed by
the next day and the next day.

The pain subsided.

I was completely blown away.

I started to dig deeper into emotional freedom technique.

That's when I came across Nick's sister, Jessica Ortner.

She was just releasing a book, "The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence: A Woman's Guide to Stressing Less, Weighing Less, and Loving More".

I got the book and my life has changed.

I keep tapping.
I keep studying.

Now I am teaching others how to tap.

And I owe it all to the Ortners for opening my eyes and
my energy to an incredible and easy modality.

Watching any video with them,

you can see they are genuine souls.

I have felt a permanent shift
in certain areas of my life since tapping.

Thank you Nick Ortner.

Thank you Jessica Ortner.

Thank you both for doing what you do and
changing so many people's lives.

I know my life is now changed and
I plan on sharing this amazing and easy technique
with everyone I know.

N is for No.

No.

Say it.

No.

It feels good.

Are you going to the party Saturday night?
No.

Are you going to write that paper for me?
No.

No.

You don't have to explain yourself.
You are allowed to just say no.

Rebel a little.

Go against the grain.

Never feel obligated.

Never feel like you have to do something this way or that way
because that's how everyone does it.

What will you say no to this week?
I'm doing some rebellion of my own this week.

In coaching school you learn about packages.
Everyone loves a good package, right?
Heh.

Anyway - you learn what basic coaching prices are and
how packages are priced.
Then you are bombarded by classes, seminars, etc telling you to
RAISE YOUR PRICES!!!

I get that.
I get the more experienced you are, the longer you've been around, the more known you are -
you will eventually raise your prices.

Well - right now I'm gonna go with what I feel.
I'm going to rebel and get rid of my
"regular coaching packages".

Why? I think it's overwhelming.
If I was looking for a coach, I wouldn't know yet if I needed 3 months or 10 sessions or exactly what my needs are.

I'm cutting out the bullshit.
I'm saying no.

I'm now offering 3 packages that are all a monthly deal
and in my opinion, a steal.

Weekly exercises to get your life simplified. From closet space to personal grudges, let's get rid of it. You have to get rid of all the junk in order to bring goodness in. Let's get rid of all that does not serve your soul.

Liberate your fears and radiate your true light. Tips and exercises in building self-confidence and putting yourself out there! Great for artists that have fears of releasing their craft out into the world. The world needs you, but first you have to believe it yourself. We are all meant to shine.
