The Magick Muse Chakra Series - Chakra Meditation

A Chakra Meditation for You
Now that we've had an overview of your chakras,
it is time to combine that knowledge for
a simple chakra meditation.

This exercise will allow you to tune in and tune up
those chakras!

What do you need to get started?

You need a quiet space, a comfortable position, a receptive attitude, and focused attention.

Create your ambiance.
Will you be using essential oils?
Will you be listening to soothing music?

Once you and your atmosphere are settled...

Sit in your quiet space in a comfortable position.

Close your eyes.

Disregard everyday thoughts.

Relax your muscles.

Take a deep breath in, slowly breathe out.

Let go of your thoughts.

Bring your focus to your root chakra.

Visualize the bright red circle at the seat of
your physical existence.

See it bringing energy up from the earth, through your feet,
into your legs,
and right into your root chakra.

Feel like a tree.

Grounded.

Say the sound oo as in the word loot.

Repeat oo as many times as you feel you need.

Take a deep breath.

Move up to your second chakra, your sacral.

See the vibrant orange gently circling and expanding.

Breathe into your sacral chakra.

Know that you are worthy of life's pleasures.

Say the sound oh as in the word mow.

Repeat oh as many times as you feel you need.

Breathe deeply.

Move up to the third chakra, your solar plexus.

This is your power center, circling a bright yellow.

Watch it gently circling and expanding.

Tap into your personal power.

Say the sound aw as in the word door.

Repeat aw as many times as you feel you need.

Another deep breath.

Now we move up into the center of your chest
for the heart chakra.

Breathe into your heart, seeing a beautiful green color.

Feel your heart chakra expand with love.

Connect with compassion and unconditional love.

It circles and swirls and is full of pure love.

Say the sound ay as in the word hay.

Repeat ay as many times as you feel you need.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe into your throat chakra,
right in the center of your throat.

See a beautiful cobalt blue color circling.

Open your throat chakra.

Visualize yourself journaling, singing, and
letting your creative self soar.

Say the sound eh as in the word feather.

Repeat eh as many times as you feel you need.

Another deep breath.

Now we move up into our sixth sense, the third eye.

Visualize the color violet, circling and cycling gently.
(To see the artist and purchase this mandala click here.)

Sense beyond, allow your intution to strengthen.

Listen to your inner voice.

Say the sound ih as in the word in.

Repeat ih as many times as you feel you need.

Breathe.

Move up through the top of your head, the crown.

See the white light of the seat of your connection to the divine.

Open your crown to Spirit.
Allow the universe to bring you energy
filling you with pure goodness.

Say the sound ee as in the word bee.

Repeat ee as many times as you feel you need.

When finished, take a few more deep breaths and ground.

Open your eyes slowly.

Take a few more breaths.

Greet the world with a renewed - refreshed self!

Essential Oils for Meditation

Aromatherapy can be used to deepen
your meditation experience.

I love incorporating smell with my meditations.

Essential oils have been an integral part of religious and
spiritual practices throughout history.

Here are 12 essential oils that you are going to wanna try out to take your meditation practice to new levels.

12 Essential Oils that can
Enhance your Meditation Experience

Bergamot essential oil reduces worry and anxious feelings. It eases the stress of everyday life.

Cedarwood essential oil calms and soothes the nerves. It is very grounding.

Chamomile essential oil takes the heat out of any situation and can soothe frayed nerves.

Clary Sage essential oil is purifying and cleansing. The sweet, soothing aroma brings tranquility to one's being.

Eucalyptus essential oil clears the head and revives the body.

Frankincense essential oil enhances enlightenment and connects the spirit with the divine.

Geranium essential oil restores a sense of harmony and equilibrium. It is considered to be a great balancer oil.

Jasmine essential oil relieves anxiety and uplifts the spirit with its exotic warm aroma.

Lavender essential oil soothes and calms the mind promoting relaxation and natural balance.

Neroli essential oil calms nerves and boost self-confidence.

Rose essential oil soothes emotions and worries.

Sandalwood essential oil brings a deep state of relaxation that takes place on the spiritual level. It calms, relaxes, lifts depression, and banishes anxiety. Sandalwood cools and calms the mind and body. Apply a few drops of sandalwood essential oil to the third eye to empower your meditation experience. It increases devotion and awakens intelligence. Sandalwood increases a sense of peace in meditation and prayer. The ultimate meditation essential oil, in my opinion, is sandalwood.

Meditation brings deep relaxation, inner peace, and balance.

Elizabeth Gilbert Inspiration

I love Malaprop's bookstore.

It was the first place I sat foot in on my first trip to Asheville.

My first thought was, "I am home."

I love Malaprop's for numerous reasons,
one being their Rocket Surgery latte.

Another is the brilliant authors they present.

When I saw Elizabeth Gilbert was coming to town,
I jumped at the opportunity to see her speak.

My intuition told me this would be a good one.

My intuition did not let me down.

She is utterly brilliant.
Honest and genuine with a slight mischievous streak.
This is my kind of woman.

She was here promoting her latest book,

The Signature of All Things: A Novel

I admit I was not initially drawn to the book.
However, I'm drawn to Elizabeth Gilbert, and
since I was going to see her, I started to read it.

I am loving the book.
I'm only about halfway through, but
this book is so much better than I expected.

I don't know what I expected.
I certainly didn't expect to read about a
16 year old girl into botany that would
disappear into her binding closet to masturbate.

For me, that's when I really got into the book.

I think I need a binding closet.

When I met her, I had to ask, "So - did you have your very own binding closet as a young girl?"
She laughed and said "Didn't we all?"

So yeah, I got to talk to her about masturbation,
which makes me smile.
Me and Elizabeth Gilbert
During the Q & A, someone asked her about her
spiritual practice and meditation.
She mentioned she just started getting back into meditating
after taking a bit of a break.
9 years to be exact.

Everyone laughs.

She went on, talking about her writing. When you see Elizabeth Gilbert talk about writing, well, it's a transformative experience. Here is a woman that knows her deepest passion, writing.

At some point she was like, "Maybe I should stop trying to meditate and just write."

Writing is clearly Elizabeth's meditation.

I'm a spiritual person.
It is part of me, who I am.
Sometimes I overdo it though.
I overdo the spiritual practice,
which doesn't make it quite so spiritual anymore.

Rising in the wee hours of the morning before the sunrise, I have meditated, read spiritual books, drawn oracle cards,
sat with myself, talked to the Universe,
written my morning pages, and done yoga.

The thing is -
I'm unable to do all of these things every single morning.
It's too much. It's overkill.
It becomes frustrating.

"Okay, morning pages done. Now let me read something deep and life changing. Okay. Now for an affirmation. Now for meditating. Should I meditate on my chakras or that affirmation I just read? What was that affirmation I just read?"

When did spirituality get so damn complicated?

This isn't right.

All of these practices serve their purpose,
but no way can I do all of these every morning.
I'll be in spiritual practice all day.
And if I push myself to do all of it every morning?
Well, there is nothing enlightening about that.

You can't half ass your spirituality.

I've been tapping on a regular basis and it has calmed me down.

So now in the mornings, I get up and do yoga.
For me, this is my meditation right now.
When I do yoga, I don't feel like I need to do meditate.
I'm calm. I'm serene. I feel balanced.

I remember when I first started meditating back in 2001.
I was told meditation is mediation.
You can't go on a walk and call that meditating.
You can't go on a run and call that meditating.

I call bullshit.

Elizabeth Gilbert has reminded me that
meditation can be anything really.
Anything that you get completely lost in.

Get lost in something.

Yoga. Writing. Painting.
Whatever tickles your fancy.

Do it fully.

Don't half ass it.

Give in and give it your all.

I promise you it will be just as good,
if not better than a meditation session.

Meditation

Blog 17 of 30 ~ Effy Wild's Blogalong ~ Thirty Posts in Thirty Days

Meditation
I took a meditation class back in 2001.
It was one of the best experiences of my life.
I learned more about myself and
developed a daily meditation habit.

And then, I fell out of habit.

Not only do I want to get back into meditating, I need to.

So I jumped on the opportunity for the

21 day Meditation Challenge
with Deepak and Oprah.
https://chopracentermeditation.com/home

I have really been enjoying these morning meditations -
even craving them.

I feel more centered.

I feel ready for whatever the day holds.
When the 21 days are over, I plan on continuing on my own -
making meditation part of my morning routine.

With the variety of demands on our lives,

we can constantly feel overwhelmed.

Meditation helps one find the still, silent place within one’s being. With meditation we silence our minds. This opens us up to better health, better intuition, better decisions and a better life.

With daily meditation, thoughts become more clear.
We begin to understand our own mind.
We can learn how to transform our thoughts from
negative to positive.

Daily meditation of just 15 minutes a day
can have profound effects on your
physical and psychological functioning.

You will have sharper thoughts and a clearer mind.
With a clear mind, new ideas become available.
Everyday life stressors won’t seem so stressful.
You will develop a more positive outlook on life.

We have the power to transform our lives with meditation.

There are as many ways to meditate
as there are minds to still.
Everyone can meditate and
find a practice that works for them.

In its simplest form,
meditation is just focused attention.

There are a variety of techniques and none of them are wrong. Find what you are comfortable with.
And please, I implore you, do not stress about meditating.
Do not approach this as another task.
Don’t think you may be doing it wrong.
The best approach is to just start.

Do or do not. There is no try. ~Yoda

Let go of your thoughts.

If you have a thought, see it as a cloud in the sky and
watch it pass.

Continue breathing naturally, in and out.

As you inhale, focus on your word, sound, or prayer.

Continue this for 10 minutes, practice daily,
building up to 15-20 minutes.

When finished, take a few more deep breaths and ground.

Open your eyes slowly.

Take a few more breaths.

Greet the world.

21 Day Meditation Challenge

Blog 2 of 30 ~ Effy Wild's Blogalong ~ Thirty Posts in Thirty Days

I am seriously gung ho about
getting back into some form of routine.

Not only have I signed up for a 30 day blog challenge
but a 21 day meditation challenge.

Challenged accepted on both counts!
The blog challenge with Effy Wild began yesterday.
The meditation challenge begins on Monday.

I know when I am blogging, my life is more clear.
I know when I'm meditating my life is more clear.

I'm curious what will happen when
I incorporate both into my life?
