2013 Year in Review - Flying Sisters Blog Circle

Wow.
What a year.
I chose the word Transformation for 2013.

How appropriate.

My main two goals this year were to:
1 - Get my life coach certification.
2 - Move to a bigger home.

Done.
And done.

Whew.

It's been wonderful nesting in the new place.
I absolutely love our new home.
We have SPACE.
It's glorious.

I've learned a few valuable lessons about me this year -

1 - Don't take on too many projects at once.
I have so many passions,
I get carried away wanting to do everything.
However, there just isn't enough time for me to do
every single thing that I'm passionate about.
I need to choose one project at a time.
I need to read one book at a time.
One thing at a time.
No more silly art classes - they are such time wasters!

2 - I need deadlines.
If I don't have a deadline, it's possible it's still on my to do list.
I've noticed if I have a scheduled class or
have to check in with someone,
I'm totally on the ball.

3 - My body needs the gym.
I need exercise.
It has to be part of my life.
A habit. Like brushing my teeth,
I've got to do it.
With trying to get my own business going,
I sometimes neglect the gym.
I've learned that my body is more important than posting more items on Etsy.
My body is a priority.

For 2014, I'm going to keep it simple.
Simplify is my word for 2014.
One project at a time.
Honor deadlines.
Honor my mind and my body.

And the huge focus - well - it's gonna all be about life coaching.
I have so many ideas, I just have to implement them!

I'm about to take my best to a new level.

Bring it on 2014.

Possibilitarian Project with Kelly Rae Roberts
For the longest time, I've wanted
a career where I can help others.

I feel it's my calling.

My soul expands in joy when I think about it.

Also, for the longest time,
I couldn't pin point exactly how to do this.
For years I've created empowering necklaces and candles that inspire people - but I needed more.

A year ago I took an online course that changed my life.
I signed up for Flying Lessons with Kelly Rae Roberts
Flying Lessons was all about getting your creative biz going - making it soar!

When the class started last September,
I threw myself in head first.
I got up early every single morning to
read the class lesson and take notes.
Everyday I learned new things about having a creative biz.

A fantastic bonus of the class was a Facebook group of everyone enrolled in the course.

Truly amazing.

I now have so many universal connections.
I am part of a group of approximately 600 creative women
from all over the world!

Flying Lessons - Kelly Rae Roberts

Taking Kelly Rae's Flying Lesson e-course is the best decision
I've made for my creative biz.

So many benefits...

The class is over, but our journey isn't.

I can hop on my laptop and there they are -
my online beautiful muses.

It feels good.

We have that like-minded connection, common creative biz goals, all of us cut from the same cloth.

And this connection stays with me.

It inspires me. I feel moved to keep creating, keep working on my creative biz, get that new Etsy shop up, keep blogging, take a painting class, etc.

Anything is possible!

I have a universal crafty support group.

Because of Kelly Rae's course,
the inspiration and possibilities just keep flowing.

I have now been on a continuous streak of creating
and it's not slowing down.

And through all of this I have realized my calling.
I know what I want to be when I grow up!

Through my inspirations and soul searching I found my calling -becoming a Life Coach.

I have felt a shift in me.

I even held a successful crowdfunding project that enabled me to get my Life Coaching certificate.

There is no turning back. I am on a roll.

Continuous Inspiration

Back in July I was hit hard with the crafty creative bug.

I've been creating necklaces and candles for 11 years...
off and on that is.

There have been breaks. Big breaks, little breaks. I would get distracted with other things, work, other hobbies, life.

And then I had a moment.
The bad kind. The kind of moment that throws you on the bed staring at the ceiling wallering in complete patheticness
Thoughts running through my brain,
"Amy, why aren't you vending? Why aren't you selling your crafts? What happened? This is one of the many reasons you moved to Asheville....and you have vended once in 3 years!"

The urge to vend was strong. The urge to craft was stronger.

I just laid there all sad and mopey.

Chris asked me what was wrong...I let it all out...

I finished with, "All I really need to vend is a tent,
but I don't have a tent."

He said, "Well, then...get one."

Oh. Yes. Okay. Why was I letting something so silly hold me back? Ha. I don't know, but once he said that...I was like
HELL YEAH, I WILL GET A TENT.

Vending here I come!

I researched the markets around here and felt connected to

I got a tent and started vending. The Paris of the South Flea Market welcomed me with open arms and smiles.
I was having a fantastic time, I met some great people...but doing a show every single Saturday drained my energy.

I decided to take a break from vending and
focus my energies elsewhere.

I had signed up for Kelly Rae Robert's Flying Lessons course

When the class started in September,
I threw myself in head first.
I got up early every single morning to
read the class lesson and take notes.
Everyday I learned new things about having a creative biz.

A fantastic bonus of the class is a Facebook group of everyone enrolled in the course.
At first, I was so completely overwhelmed by this...
over 600 super talented, artsy women!

How would I ever connect with so many?

The class ended, but my daily browsing of
our Facebook page hasn't.

And something quite unexpected has happened.

I feel connected with these women. I now know some of them.
I pop on and see their faces and
know their names.
I know their artwork.
I know their goals, inspirations, and dreams.
It is amazing to be part of such a wonderful group of women who are truly in support of each other.
They have become part of my daily life.

As a result of Kelly Rae's course and my Flying Sisters, I have reopened an Etsy shop, revamped my blog, signed up for a painting class, I'm in an "Artist Way" book club, I swap ATCs (artist trading cards, I act like I know the lingo),

and most importantly...

the inspiration just keeps flowing.

I have now been on a continuous streak of creating
and I'm not going to stop.

And through all of this I have realized my calling.
I know what I want to be when I grow up.

Becoming a Life Coach is the next step.

I have felt a shift in me.

There is no turning back. I am on a roll. I'm going to keep creating candles. I'm going to keep working on my creative biz.
By Spring of 2013 I will be a Life Coach.

I am inspired and I'm not quitting.

Check out my campaign on Indiegogo...

Please help if you can! 27 days left to meet my goal!

Oracle of the Week~Faery~The Star Faerie

The Star Faerie
The Star Faerie by Brian Froud
Universal Connections ~ Cosmic Collaboration ~ Unity

From the book:

It's easy to go through life not feeling connected
to anyone or anything.
We insulate ourselves from that which surrounds us.
It can be overwhelming to think about the vastness above us,
and we may feel the need to protect ourselves from that vastness.

The Star Faerie invites connection to the universe.

When you find this being in a reading,
it's important to think about how we are connected,
not only to everything on Earth,
but to the stars and the whole universe as well.

Look up.

It may be the middle of the day,
or you may be in a place that has so much
illumination at night that you never see the stars,
but remember they are there.

The energy of the stars is in all of us, literally.
We are made up of tiny bits of star energy and
that is what Faerie dust is.

The Star Faeries embodies that energy with us always,
whether we can see it or not,
reminding us of our universal connections.

******************************
Incredible.

I have been feeling more connected lately, more "on".
I was just thinking about how cool it is that I now have so many universal connections...I am part of a group of over 600 creative women from all over the world!

Taking Kelly Rae's Flying Lesson e-course is one of the best decisions I've made for my creative biz.

Always in the Moment

Kelly Rae Roberts has been inspiring
my authentic being since
May of 2009.
She continues to touch my heart with the pieces she creates.

Her messages always ring true to what is going on in my life.

Kelly recently sent out an email with this inspirational painting including an important message from the universe.

Be present.
Her favorite moments were those when she let go
of all expectations and worries
and just simply
celebrated the very moment she was living.

You guys know I have tons of hobbies and
I love so many things in life.
You also know I get overwhelmed because
I want to do everything.
I want to create everything.
I want to experience everything.

Well...I'm going to work at not overwhelming my schedule. I'm going to work on having more relax time for just me. I'm going to work on having quality time with my amazing boyfriend.

I'm going to simply just be present.

Can you do the same?

I'm soooooooooooo looking forward to this.
Kelly Rae Roberts has been inspiring me since
I moved to North Carolina and found
a piece of her artwork,
"She was on a journey back to her wings."

Obviously, it is one of my favorite pieces ever.
I have it hanging above my desk in my bedroom.
You can read my blog about it, here

I'm ready for my wings.
Let's go!

Courage

Most days I have courage. I don't even think about it.
It's just part of who I am.

However, right now I have to deal with something...and
I have lost all my courage.

It frustrates me because I don't know how it left me.

How can just one person seem to zap it from me?

I refuse to allow anyone to have power over me.

I need my courage. I need my voice.
I have to confront what is making me unhappy.

I take back my courage.

You have no power over me.

Whatever happens, happens.

I must be true to my authentic being.

Create a Vision Board

Creating a Vision Board

Have you ever made a vision board?

I normally write my visions down in a journal.
I may hang up a couple of pictures here and there to remind me of my goals...but I've never actually implemented my dreams on to a board all together.

Let me tell you....it was exhilarating!

It's that whole concept of the law of attraction, manifesting your reality...you know "What the Bleep Do We Know?", "The Secret", and Wayne Dyer stuff.

Stuff that I love...and believe in.

I believe our thoughts are powerful.
I believe visualization gives our thoughts wings.
I believe we can manifest our reality.

There are many ways to create your vision board...
you could use poster board, a piece of wood,
a bulletin board, canvas, etc.

Take the time to figure out what you want...
what you really. really want.
Do you want a new house?
Do you need tires for your car?
A vacation? More alone time? A loving partner?

Write down everything you can think of...
this is your wishes, your desires.

Next step...find pictures that represent these goals to you.
You may be able to find them in magazines or just google them and print them out.

I used an old bulletin board.

I wanted to paint it - to give it color and
I feel the more you put into something,
the more you get out of it.

First I applied a layer of gesso.

I wanted to use mostly blue.
Blue is the color of water.
Water flows effortlessly and
I wanted to incorporate that energy into my vision board.

I also wanted to use green.
Green is the traditional color for prosperity and abundance.

Plus I wanted it to be funky, so I sprayed water on it...

and covered it with paper towels.

I absolutely love the look this creates.
I got the idea from that Kelly Rae Roberts book
I can't stop reading,

I kept layering shades of blue.

Lastly I added purple, for purple is a magical color.
I was finally satisfied and proceeded with my visions.

I used gel medium to adhere my pictures to the board.
As I glued each picture, I thought about my intentions.

The final piece for my vision board...in my own handwriting...
"I manifest my reality."

Next I brushed a coat of gel medium
over the entire board
sealing my vision.

So, now...where to put it?

The Vision Board needs to go where you will see it everyday.

I decided to put mine over my dresser.

I sandwiched it with 2 rabbit candle holders I scored
at the Paris of the South Flea Market last Saturday.

I used two green 7 day candles and
attached affirmations to them.

And here is the final manifestation project...
