Merry Midsummer

Merry Midsummer!
Midsummer Eve by Edward Robert
Happy Faery Day everyone!

Midsummer, also known as the Summer Solstice is
a special day for faeries.
Some even know the day to be called Feast of the Faeries.

Today marks the longest day of the year,
the height of the sun's power,
and the beginning of the waning half of the year.

The Goddess manifests as Mother Earth and
the God as the Sun King.

The Magick Muse's Very Faery Enchanted Potpourri
mistletoe
ash
apple
mugwort
rose petals
thyme
ivy
lavender
faery dust

Mix together, add a couple drops of lavender essential oil to
give the potpourri an extra faery kick.

What to do on Midsummer?
  • Keep a Sacred Fire burning throughout the day/night.
  • Stay up all night on Solstice Eve and welcome the rising Sun at dawn.
  • Make a pledge to Mother Earth of something that you will do to improve the environment and then begin carrying it out.
  • Have a magical gift exchange with friends.
  • Burn your Yule wreath in a Summer Solstice bonfire.
  • Exchange songs, chants, and stories with others.
  • Let yourself go with ecstatic dancing to drums around a blazing bonfire.

Midsummer Affirmation
I am enchanted pleasure. I am joy and delight.
I am the dance of freedom and the song of summer's height.
I see with my soul into other worlds,
and I join in the feast of the Sidhe.
I am at one with my world, and at peace.
Blessed Be.

Embracing My Body (part of a blog circle concerning books)

The book I'm reading right now is teaching me...

Marianne Williamson
in December 2010.

I got through chapter 1 and then stopped.

I picked it up again a year later...got through 2 chapters...and then stopped.

I strongly believe it is time...time to get through all 21 chapters.
So far, so good...I mean...I've made it to chapter 3!

I obviously wasn't ready before, but I am ready now.

It was pretty much impossible to grow/live/be healthy in body, mind, and spirit in a shared 400 square foot apartment.
My spirit was suffocating.

Good news, that is over.

Now I have space. Space to create. Space to cook. Space to just be. Space to balance my body, mind, and spirit.

Every single day I feel closer to being me again, my authentic Amy is coming back 100%.

With that comes the realization of,
"What the fuck happened to my body?"

We all cope in different ways. I've put on weight for several reasons...and I now know it is time to let it all go.

Reading "A Course in Weight Loss" is taking me on a deep spiritual journey concerning my weight. I have already felt a healthy shift...and I have 18 chapters left to go.

I started going back to the gym on May 6...I really do enjoy it.

Plus now that I have a kitchen, I'm eating better.

I have been against scales for many, many years..however when I ventured back into the gym routine on May 6, I hopped on. I figured I had to face me head on. I decided it was time to know. I hadn't weighed myself for probably 14 years.
I've always gone with "how I feel".
Well, I didn't feel good anymore.
So, deciding it was time to embrace, acknowledge, and deal...
I stepped on the scale.

Holy fuck balls.

The number that came up was atrocious.
My mind went through so many horrible thoughts...mainly,
"Only really, really fat people weigh that much."

Oh, gawd. What have I done to myself?
I don't deserve this.
I deserve better treatment from myself to myself.

"A Course in Weight Loss" has helped me let go of all those nasty thoughts. It has helped me realize that my soul was weighed down, which made my body heavy.
Horrible domino effect that I am stopping.

I am changing my thinking.
I am becoming more aware and conscious of what I'm doing with my body and what I'm eating.

I got on that scale again this week and I've lost 13 pounds.
Progress!
I am back on track.
Thank you Marianne Williamson for being
with me on this journey.

"Spiritually, your wanting to lose weight
is not a desire to become less of yourself,
but rather a desire to become more of your true self."
~Marianne Williamson

Me & Mike at Heroes Con
This Week in
The Magick Muse

Reading: Medicine Road by Charles de Lint (I do believe in fairy tales.)

Listening to: A mix of The Postal Service, Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside, Real Love Diplomats (inspired by seeing Mike at Heroes Con), PJ Harvey, and whatever sparks my fire.

Watching: Girls. Girls. Girls. Over and over. Can't stop. I just have never seen a tv show so damn realistic. Penis picture texts exist, people

Thinking about: Girls. Weddings. Heros Con. The Postal Service. I'm still coming down from the recent road trips Chris and I went on. My highlight was definitely the comic convention. Damn. It was soooo freakin awesome seeing faces I haven't seen for over 4 years. Made me super giddy.

Learning: To relax on the weekends, self-care.

Doing: Forming a new routine. Again. But ready. Just taking it slow.

Pet Peeves: Noise in the morning. Voices in the morning. Basically any sound in the morning.

Happy Thoughts: Our happy home, books, comics, Super Heroes, air conditioning, good smelling incense, and great friends.

Best Quote: "Live life like a ceremony. Take responsibility for your every breath. Be aware of all the wide wonder of the world that surrounds you and connects the thing you are to every other thing." ~ Medicine Road by Charles de Lint

Looking forward to: Getting back into the groove of blogging.

I'm dreaming of a weekend alone.

http://jarederickson.com/colin-dunn-fortress-of-solitude/
I need some time.

I need some time for me, for my new biz, need to get started...

I haven't been able to catch up since we moved.

We moved.
Then there was that burlesque show I vended at that was a complete disappointment.
Then a wedding weekend.
Then another wedding weekend.

Ahhhhhhhhh...

Seeking solitude to get back on track.

This weekend sounds like a good time to be a hermit.

This Week in
The Magick Muse

Reading: Finished "Deadlocked" by Charlaine Harris...it's June, so time for chapter 6 of "The Artist's Way".

Listening to: Still mad deep into Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside

Watching: Hooked on "Girls", I think I have just 3 episodes left...then I'm going to watch them all again. Brilliant show.

Thinking about: Trying to process how people can be mean and thoughtless towards their loved ones. I don't get it. I don't think I will ever understand.

Learning: I need more trips out of town. I need to explore. I want to see things. I want to do things.

Doing: As I get back into the routine of things after a mostly excellent weekend in Maryland...it's time to hit the road again on Friday. I'm headed to a comic convention...then to see The Postal Service...then to South Carolina for another wedding.

Pet Peeves: disrespect

Happy Thoughts: Josh & Stacie's wedding vows made me very happy. Straight from the heart. Pure love.

Looking forward to: Seeing The Postal Service Friday night...yay!
