Your Root Chakra

Located at the base of our spine in the tailbone area,
the root chakra is connected to our personal survival.
It represents our foundation and
the sensation of being grounded.

Sanskrit name – Muladhara “root”

Represented by – a lotus of 4 petals

Color – red

Element – Earth

Planet – Saturn

Astrological Sign – Capricorn

Associated Sense - smell

Sound – oo (loot)

Animal – elephant

Archetypes – Earth Mother/Victim

Foods – proteins, meats

Crystals – agate, bloodstone, garnet, hematite, obsidian, smoky quartz, tiger’s eye

Glandular Connection – adrenals

Associated Body Parts – bones, skeletal structure

Physical imbalance – osteoarthritis

Emotional imbalance – spacy, lethargic mind, incapable of inner stillness

The first chakra is the seat of our consciousness.
It is our connection with the earth and our basic need for survival.
The root chakra covers matters such as finances, food, shelter, and your job.

If the root chakra is blocked or depleted our connection to nature and the world could be weakened. This can cause us to feel ungrounded and less stable.

An overstimulated root charka may cause one to become
attached to material things and wealth.

In Balance = Our core basic needs are being met.

There are many ways to heal and balance the root chakra.
You can try one or combine many for more beneficial results.

  • Focus on your basic needs and make sure they are fulfilled.
  • You could incorporate more protein in your diet and red colored foods such as beets. Add cayenne and hot spices to your food. Make a hearty soup. Eat more potatoes and vegetables from the ground.
  • Use yoga postures. Bridge Pose and Wheel will open the lower spine. Engage Warrior Pose to ground yourself and feel your need for survival thrive. Tree Pose is beneficial for grounding as well.
  • Meditate focusing on your root chakra. Chant the sound sound "oo" as in the word root.
  • Use crystals. Choose one and carry it with you. Meditate with it.
  • Use affirmations. I have listed six excellent affirmations below for balancing your root.
  • Use essential oils. Remember, oils are the souls of plants. This plant energy can help balance our energy.

Essential Oils that Balance and Cool the Root Chakra

Cedarwood essential oil calms and soothes the nerves. It is very grounding.

Clary sage essential oil drives out negativity - in your environment and in your thoughts. Sage purifies and cleanses. It brings you courage, strength, and protection while grounding you.

Frankincense essential oil enhances enlightenment and connects the spirit with the divine.

Geranium essential oil restores a sense of harmony and equilibrium. It is considered to be a great balancer oil.

Rose essential oil l soothes emotions and worries.

Sandalwood essential oil calms, relaxes, lifts depression, and banishes anxiety. Sandalwood increases a sense of peace in meditation and prayer.

Vetiver essential oil is a money drawing oil. Use it to enhance your finances. Its rich scent also brings tranquility to the soul.

Lemongrass and myrrh are also fabulous essential oils to bring balance to the root chakra.

You can use cinnamon, ginger, or patchouli essential oils to open and stimulate the root chakra.

Affirmations for The Root Chakra

My body is becoming more important to me. I nurture it constantly.

I recognize the abundance of love, trust, and care surrounding me.

My internal mother is always here for me, protecting, nourishing, and soothing me.

I deserve the best that life has to offer. My needs are always met.

I am connected to Mother Earth and know the security of being grounded in reality, in the moment.

Oracle of the Week~Fairy~Kali

I got a new Oracle deck!

One of my very faery favorite artists is Jasmine Becket-Griffith.

She is amazing.

I love that she captures the dark side of the faery nature
and I relate to many of her fairy beings.

I'm thrilled to pieces that she now has an oracle deck
and I get to know all of these fairies.

I feel like I have new friends.

The first fairy I drew was Kali. Kali is no new presence in my life.
Kali has shown up numerous times for me in my Goddess Oracle deck.

You can read about Goddess Kali here.

Now for Jasmine's version of Kali...let's check it out.

Kali's Message~From death comes rebirth

Kali is the Hindu Goddess of birth, death, and rebirth.

She is destruction.

If you get in Kali's way, she will cut off your head.

She is usually seen with swords wearing a necklace of severed heads.

Kali clears away all that is not needed.

She is extremely powerful, very strong, and also protective.

If you plan on letting go of something,
this is the Goddess to help you with such a task.
It must be done.

Let go and allow her to help you release all that is not needed.

"I am the dancer who moves through the fire,
who wields my sword and severs the cords of energy that entangle you,
and who is not afraid of the death that needs to happen.

Every act of destruction is an act of creation,
and this is no act of pointless destruction and brutality.

I am clearing all that is leeching off your energy,
draining your strength,
and abrading those relationships that
cannot do anything but keep you stuck.

Whether you realize it or not, you called on me,
and I have come to clear the path,
to destroy that which you have longed to let go of.

Something's time has come.

And it will be born again, as nothing ever truly dies-it only changes.

And that time has come!

I am pure fire energy, and the great mother,
and as I dance, the death you face brings you to new life."

Take powerful actions to change your life!

*********************************************************
It's time for me to listen to Kali or I feel she will cut off my head. It is time for me to let some things go. It is time for me to move on. It is time for me to create space for the good things in my life and let go of the old ick.

My question is
How?

Happy 420!

Are you familiar with where 420 comes from or do you think it's just the socially accepting time of the day to burn one down?

The year was 1971.
San Rafael, California.
A group of teens calling themselves, "The Waldos" learned of an abandoned cannabis crop. Of course, they wanted to find the green goodness.

They even had a treasure map.

Their meeting place: The Louis Pasteur statue
on the grounds of San Rafael High School

Time: 4:20pm

Shortened code: 4:20 Louis

The Waldos searched for weeks.

They never found the crop.

They eventually dropped the Louis, it became simply 4:20 and was their code for getting high.

It caught on...and on...and on.

These guys created a legendary code and they never even got a dime for it.

But, hey...they get to say "we did that".

Now for a video...

Chakras

Chakras

Are you familiar with your chakras?

Some people are quite in tune, others have no idea what I'm talking about.

What are chakras?

We are all made of energy. Every cell of our being vibrates constantly.

The chakras are the energy centers of the body. Chakras are wheels of energy that form a vortex. Chakra translates to "wheel of light" in Sanskrit.

We have seven major chakras that are constantly moving and interacting.

Each chakra represents an aspect of consciousness
that is essential to your life.
~Deborah King, "Be Your Own Shaman"

Each chakra governs particular organs and body parts. They also represent parts of your personality and your psychological and emotional make-up. The chakras affect us mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually .

When balanced, your chakra system provides powerful benefits to you and your health. When our chakras are out of balance, this can cause illness, frustrations, and stress. If our chakras are not aligned, we want to remove any blocks or imbalances to our natural flow of energy.

There are numerous healing techniques to align the chakras and stay balanced. Toning exercises, specific gemstones, yoga poses, meditation, and essential oils can help balance our chakras.

When our energy centers are flowing freely and working together as
an integrated whole
we function at our optimum level of
mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Oracle of the Week~Goddess~Eurynome

Eurynome

By Amy Sophia Marashinsky
Illustrated by Hrana Janto

Ecstasy

When I awakened and arose

out of swirling seething chaos

seeing no other way to express

the sheer delight

the wild exhilaration

the explosion of energy

I felt

I began to dance my exuberance

that feeling of floating on a sea

of rapturous joy

lost and transported

in the intensity

of ecstasy

**********************************************

Eurynome separated the sky from the sea. She created the north wind by dancing on the waves. The north wind became lustful. Eurynome seized him in her hands and made him into the serpant Ophion.

Eurynome made love with Ophion and created the Universal egg out of which all creation spilled forth.

**********************************************

Eurynome is dancing into your life to tell you it is time for ECSTASY.

Ecstasy is here for you in all its fullness, exuberance, and rapture.

If there are parts of you that are wounded,
it may be difficult to find the deeply nourishing joyful place of ecstasy.

Heal your wounded parts.

Your wounded parts take up emotional space within you.

Heal those parts and you create space for ECSTASY.

Open yourself up to the dance of ecstasy.

Feel it.

Revel in it.

Eurynome says that when you make the decision to dance with ecstasy,
all life challenges you with the opportunities to facilitate that dance.

Oracle of the Week~Plant Heather

Heather

Luck ~ Celebration ~ Community

From The Druid Plant Oracle
by
Philip & Stephanie Carr-Gomm

Illustrated
by
Will Worthington

Heather is considered to be highly auspicious and a bringer of good fortune.

It is time to start celebrating all that is best in your life.

Heather symbolizes the power and the joy of community,
and much of our pleasures and our pains result from living together.

Sometimes we spend too much time thinking of difficulties in relationships and in our lives.

Have a different focus.

Spend time dwelling on all the positive aspects of the people you know and have known.
Your friends, your family, your significant other, your community...

In the Druid Ogham system Heather is referred to as "Ur".

Ur represents kundalini energy.

Ur is a gateway, a breakthrough, a realization.

On a Journey Back to Her Wings

After I first moved to North Carolina, I was wandering around downtown Black Mountain.

I stumbled upon this piece by Kelly Rae Roberts.

I connected with it, immediately.

She was and is a lot like me.

Below on the right it reads
"She was on a journey back
to her wings."

I was in awe.

I stood there staring at this, thinking "Wow, so am I."

I was inspired.

So...this became my inspiration for
the name of my blog,

"On a Journey Back to Her Wings".

One day I will have my wings.
